COURSERA ASSIGNMENT

The course that i choose this time is Mandarin Chinese 1: Chinese for beginners by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Because i'm interesting in Chinese language and i have get smilar course in my third semester i want to continue this course  so i can improve my Chinese skill. There are 5 syllabus for 5 weeks in this course. So, here is my first week.

In the beginning the course give me 10 chinese words as my first vocabulary to remember and of course, the meaning of the words. The course contain English, Chinese hanze, and Chinese pinyin transcription so i can understand them by the pinyin transcription. This course also provide english language in the video, the speaker both speaks Chinese and English.

Next, there is a videos about greetings. In this video i learnt about how to greet someone, talk about name and so on such as :

'Nihao' means hello

'Ni jiao shenme mingzi?' means what is your name and 'wo jiao + name' can be the answer.

Or how to say nice to meet you in chinese 'Hen gaoxing renshi ni', you can add wo ye as 'me too'

Right after video ended there's a practice quize about the materi in the video and there are some quizes that i cant take because i need to pay some money to get them unlocked, so i just can access the free ones.

In Chinese, a syllable is composed of an initial, a final, and a tone. For example, in the syllable ni, n is the initial, i is a final, and tone mark. So there is a video about those theree and a written task about introducing myself in chinese.

The second subject  is about Where are you from

In this part i also get 10 Chinese vocabulary to learn and remeber. This part provide a video about  how to introduce one's nationality. We are from different countries. The aim is to learn some more basic and helpful Chinese through this lesson.

Wo shi Zhongguo ren. Ni ne? And you? Ni shi na guo ren

Where are you from? Na means where, Guo is country Ni shi na guo ren. Your response should be, Wo shi + your nationality.

In this part i also learn about some countries name in Chinese such as :

US is 'Meiguó'. Yingguo is Great Britain. Germany, Déguó. Japan, Rìben. Spain, Xibanyá.

And how to response to the question 'Ni shi na guo ren'.

If you are from UK, your response should be, "Wo shi Yingguo ren." and so on.

Just like the first one, this part also have a quiz, the quiz is about the material in the video, disscusion and the the textual material in the end. So far, i really enjoy this course. It's funny and helpful, but unfortunately i can't do all the excercises or quizes because due to financial problem.
